What does “send” mean here?

Sending means the email leaves your Gmail account and reaches the recipient. Saving a draft means the reply sits on the thread in your Gmail drafts, where you can edit it, send it or delete it.

When you ask Mailient's assistant, Arcus, for a reply, it saves a Gmail draft on the thread and does not send it. The draft button on an email inside Mailient writes a reply for you to edit before anything goes out.

What happens by default?

Every email waits for your approval, and meetings are created only after you confirm. Nothing about this needs to be switched on.

• Replies are drafts until you approve them.
• Calendar events with Google Meet links, and Cal.com bookings, are created only after you confirm.
• Slack messages go through the same approval as email.
• The daily morning sweep on paid plans saves drafts in Gmail; it does not send them.
• If you approve an email for a later time, it goes out at that time without asking again, because you already approved it.

What is the exception?

Auto-send is off unless you switch it on yourself, for a specific agent, a specific contact, or a whole email domain you choose. Everything else keeps waiting for approval.

Mailient may suggest it after a run of approvals to the same contact with no rejections, but nothing turns on by itself: you confirm it. The full wording of the exception, as the product states it, is on the Mailient facts page.

What will Mailient still not do by default?

By default it will not send an email, create a meeting, book through Cal.com or post to Slack without your approval. It also does not replace Gmail: your mail stays in your Gmail account.

When should you not use auto-send?

Keep approval on for anyone where one wrong sentence costs more than the minute it takes to read a draft: investors, customers mid-deal, anything about money or contracts, and anyone new.

Auto-send suits routine replies to a known contact where the content barely changes. If you would not let a new assistant send it unread, leave it on approval.

Only that person is affected. Replies to them can go out without a per-email prompt; every other email still waits for your approval.

Can I schedule an email to send later?

Yes. You approve it and pick the time, and it is sent then without a second prompt. The approval happens before it is scheduled, not at send time.
